Representatives for Uber and Expedia declined to comment to the Financial Times.

Uber has expanded its reach in recent years as the company wants to “be the platform for all mobility needs,” travel chief Camille Irving said in May 2023.

Now Uber, in addition to taxis, offers food delivery services, train and plane ticket reservations, corporate logistics and advertising, seeking to become a super application similar to the Chinese WeChat, writes FT.

According to its own data, Expedia’s revenue in 2023 amounted to $12.8 billion. At the same time, in the summer of 2024, the company warned that it was facing a decline in demand for tourist travel.
