Instant coffee also has some disadvantages. For example, it contains the most acrylamide compared to other types of coffee. Acrylamide is considered a potential human carcinogen.

Flavored instant coffees may contain added sugar. This may interfere with weight loss.

As with regular coffee, excessive consumption of instant coffee can lead to anxiety, digestive problems and insomnia.
