The X-62A, formerly known as NF-16D, is a modified F-16D Block 30 and serves as a flying platform for testing autonomous systems. The aircraft uses the Lockheed Martin Model Tracking Algorithm (MFA) and Simulation Autonomous Control System (SACS) to enhance its autonomous capabilities.
With SAFE, the X-62A can perform complex aerial tests more quickly by instantly changing the flight profile that previously required landing and reconfiguration. AI-powered SAFE technology uses machine learning to correct control errors.
The company states that SAFE can also be installed in other autonomous systems.
