Eastern horror mingles with western horror in Umma, new horror film from Sony Pictures starring Sandra Oh, directed by Iris K. Shim and produced by Sam Raimi. After hitting US theaters in March, the film is now on home video and Sony Pictures is previewing the first ten minutes. We don’t know at this point when the film will officially arrive in Italy.
“Umma” in Korean means “mother” and illustrates the threat of the film: the evil spirit of the main character’s mother, who sneaks into the otherwise quiet rural life of Amanda (Sandra Oh) and her daughter (Fivel Stewart). What will be the consequences of this evil presence? Why does Amanda feel like she’s going to resemble her vengeful mother?
