Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo invested in the British medical technology company Bioniq with Russian roots. This raised the company’s valuation to €75.7 million ($82 million). The amount of the investment is not disclosed. EU-Startups writes about this with reference to the company’s statement.

Bioniq was founded in 2019 by former Gazprom Media top manager Vadim Fedotov together with neurosurgeon Konstantin Karuzin. The company produces personalized nutritional supplements based on blood tests. Bioniq now sells products in more than 70 countries and the number of customers will have increased approximately fivefold by 2024, writes EU-Startups.

The investments raised will be used to expand the business in the US, Europe and the Middle East. The United States now already accounts for more than 60% of Bioniq’s total global sales, the company said. They added that Ronaldo has been a Bioniq customer since 2022. The athlete will participate in the development of new products for the company.

“I myself have been using their products for almost three years. With its personalized approach to health, I believe Bioniq can change the way we take care of our bodies and help people stay in top shape for longer,” Ronaldo said.

The total investment in Bioniq is $30.3 million, according to Crunchbase data as of July 2024. As part of round A, the company raised $7.8 million from the OKS group venture fund in January 2021 and $7.5 million in February 2022, and within the framework of round B, $15 million from venture funds HV Capital and Unbound in July 2024.
