Blizzard has released details of the first post-launch update for Diablo Immortal, which went live in open beta for PC on June 2. The update will launch in the new season with three new battle passes, a new raid boss and a weekend event, as well as numerous balance changes and bug fixes.
The second season of Diablo Immortal will include a free Battle Pass with 40 ranks, as well as two paid versions: the Empowered Battle Pass, which adds a chain of premium rewards to the free content, as well as two Bloodsworn cosmetic items and the Empowered Collector. Pass, which, along with the previous one, also includes the Bloodsworn Avatar Border, the Bloodsworn Cosmetic Portal, and an immediate increase of ten ranks. The pass will be available until August 4, and assuming prices remain unchanged from Season 1, the Empowered Pass will be $5 and the Empowered Pass will be $15.

“This patch is just the beginning,” Blizzard wrote. “We have been collecting suggestions and feedback on the game since its launch and look forward to sharing new updates in future patches.” The dev team has also been teasing a new ‘Class Change’ option that will be included in the next update due later this month.
One thing the update carefully avoids is any mention of the controversy surrounding Diablo Immortal’s aggressive monetization, which has drawn a fierce backlash from players. There is also very little new content. In general, the reaction of the players on the Reddit and Blizzard forums cannot be called wild enthusiasm.
Despite the complaints, it’s clear that not everyone is unhappy with the game in its current form. While PC gamers eager for a premium Diablo game aren’t happy with it, Diablo Immortal is rated 4.5/5 on the App Store and 3.7/5 on Google Play. The game is also reported to have made quite a bit of money, with mobilegamer.biz reporting that it made around $49 million in its first month of release.
