Google is contacting customers who are experiencing this issue or are currently using the problematic SIM card. Those with past injuries may be eligible for a $60 service/bill credit.

The company has resolved the manufacturing issue and assured customers that the new SIM cards should work “as expected”. To avoid possible disruptions, users who receive the email are recommended to switch to a new SIM card.

Google Fi is an MVNO operator that provides mobile communications and Internet services using other operators’ networks. It was released by Google in 2015 under the name Project Fi and was later renamed Google Fi.
