The expert noted that in the future, microwave weapons could be used for peaceful purposes, for example, such an installation could be used for “effective wireless transmission of solar energy from orbit to the Earth.” According to Stepanov, such a microwave system “will make it possible to create a distributed network of low-orbit solar power stations.”
As for destructive properties, the expert talks about a microwave anti-satellite system consisting of seven emitting devices. According to previous information, experimental firing confirmed that this installation effectively jams signals from American GPS and other satellites.
This technology was first demonstrated in the popular movie “Star Wars”: the battle station was called the “Death Star” and could concentrate eight laser beams to destroy planets.
