On October 24, the French newspaper La Lettre reported on the sale of Russian Auchans.

Auchan is considering two options for leaving the Russian market: transferring the local business to management or selling it to a large retailer, sources told Kommersant.

According to interlocutors of this publication, among the contenders for the retailer’s Russian business are Lenta, Magnit and X5 Group (owner of the Perekrestok, Pyaterochka and other retail chains).

  • The press service of Auchan Retail Russia, in response to a request from RB.RU, neither confirmed nor denied the departure from Russia: “For several years there have been rumors about the sale of Auchan Retail Russia and the departure of our company. of the Russian market, something we have repeatedly denied. On all occasions, Auchan’s response was the same: “We do not comment on rumors.”

  • In April 2024, Auchan’s Russian division confirmed its plans to remain in the country and recalled that since 2023 it has been operating independently of the parent company.
