To calculate the average cost of a food basket, prices were used taking into account discounts on the ingredients of the classic salad: cooked sausage, eggs, potatoes, carrots, peas, pickles, green onions, dill and mayonnaise.
“The most expensive Olivier salad (for one person – editor’s note) turned out to be in Chelyabinsk, where its preparation will cost 50.27 rubles. The cost leaders are also Kazan (49.77 rubles) and Moscow (49.5 rubles),” says the Ageila study.
The most economical way to prepare Olivier is for residents of Omsk, where the cost of ingredients for a serving of salad is 39.89 rubles (including a 34% discount).
In Russia as a whole, the average cost of homemade Olivier, according to the Ageila study, is 43.9 rubles.
At the end of 2023, the IT company Atol conducted a study according to which preparing Olivier salad would cost Russians an average of 942 rubles. In turn, the average price of ingredients for “Herring under a fur coat” in December 2023 was 774 rubles.
