Unlike previous versions, Orion will initially be available only to a limited number of product development partners and will not be available via ChatGPT as is usually the case. OpenAI’s parent Microsoft is reportedly preparing to host Orion on Azure in early November.
Orion is expected to be a significant upgrade, potentially 100 times more powerful than the previous GPT-4. Orion’s training also reportedly uses data produced by the recently released o1 model, which can “think” before responding.
CEO Sam Altman hinted at the upcoming model by mentioning winter constellations in a recent post.
