Apple showed off its secret audio laboratory, Fantasia Lab, on ABC.

This is a small and inconspicuous building. Inside there is a room in which the AirPod Pro 2’s hearing aid function was tested.

It is completely lined with sound-absorbing panels. In its center is a chair surrounded by a dome made from a wall of speakers. They play the sounds of hundreds of different phenomena to test how voice recognition works.

The ABC journalist turned on the sound of the noisy restaurant, where the clinking of plates, cutlery and conversations at the table could be heard. Then the engineers added “talkers” and asked them to show what they were saying.

Similarly, tests are carried out in this room with other people who have real hearing problems.

Also journalism “One of the quietest rooms on the planet.” It has a spacious foundation, all walls, ceiling and bottom are lined with acoustic foam, and the floor is made of stainless steel mesh. Cuba Mazur, Apple’s lead health and hearing engineer, said some people can hear their heartbeat when the room is closed.

iOS 18.1 with reduced hearing aid will be released on October 28th. The corresponding update for AirPods Pro 2 is already available.
