According to the company, the closure of the service is due to a significant reduction in the number of users.

“Unfortunately, our Q&A platform no longer meets the needs of today’s social media users,” the post said.

According to the developers, all users’ personal data will be deleted shortly after the closure. Account registration will not be available from October 24, developers will gradually stop supporting other features.

The creators of the platform added that you will be able to save any data or content until December 1.

Brothers Ilya and Mark Terebin from Latvia founded the Ask.fm service (renamed ASKfm in 2016) in 2010. In an interview with Time, the entrepreneurs admitted that they invested about 500 thousand dollars in the project and were inspired by the idea of Formspring (closed since 2013).

In 2014, the service had 180 million registered users. It was then sold to InterActiveCorp. The company’s headquarters were moved to Ireland and the platform’s name was changed. Since then, unregistered users have lost the ability to ask questions.
