Key differences?

By using the Linux kernel and monolithic architecture, Android provides flexibility but introduces potential stability issues. HarmonyOS Next, on the other hand, increases security and performance by isolating critical system components using a special microkernel architecture.

HarmonyOS Next focuses on building an ecosystem of native apps for developers, using Huawei resources and tools, in times when Android “lets things go by itself” (too many apps to control everything properly).

Although Android is open source, HarmonyOS Next takes a more closed approach. Note that Android can be resource-intensive, especially on low-end devices, according to experts; HarmonyOS Next performs better in this regard so far.

While Android remains the dominant force, HarmonyOS Next is an interesting, if far from ideal, alternative.
