The terahertz range, which lies between the infrared and radio bands, has long been inaccessible to scientists due to the lack of necessary technologies. Now, thanks to new filters, examining the optical properties of materials will become more efficient. It allows you to analyze samples not in the entire terahertz range, but only in the required part, which saves time and resources without loss of accuracy.
Filters can find wide application in terahertz studies of semiconductors and crystals to be used in various devices. Scientists hope that these developments will make it possible to create complex devices and metamaterials for next-generation communications, the press service said.
Filter samples were produced by photolithography. Scientists were able to select the desired spectrum range, reducing the measurement time by half.
