In 1983, a group of engineers from the Leningrad Optical-Mechanical Regional Association (LOMO), led by M. G. Kholomyansky, developed a compact (107 x 68 x 43.5 mm) photoset “Lomo Kompakt-Avtomat” (“LOMO LC-A”) , as well as its prototype – the Japanese Cosina CX-2.
