In southern China, in the city of Guangzhou, construction of the world’s first flying car plant has begun. Xpeng held an opening ceremony on October 27. By 2026, it plans to produce up to 10 thousand units of equipment, Xinhua reports.

The first stage of construction will occupy 180 thousand square meters. meters. In particular, it will produce the aerial module for the Xpeng Land Aircraft Carrier flying vehicle. The module was tested in September 2024, Xpeng announced that it would start selling before the end of the year and the automaker has already received around 3 thousand applications.
According to Carnewschina, the land-based aircraft carrier will cost approximately 2 million yuan ($280,000 or about 27 million rubles at the Central Bank exchange rate). The car has a minimalist style and is completely electric. In mixed mode (air/ground), it can travel up to 1,000 km on a single charge, and charging from 30% to 80% will take only 18 minutes. The device is capable of landing automatically, without driver intervention.
Xpeng AeroHT, Xpeng’s flying vehicle development division, initially planned to begin construction of the plant in September, but the groundwork was not laid until late October, the newspaper notes.
In mid-October, Chinese automaker Chery unveiled its first flying car, called the Land and Air Vehicle. The vehicle is still in development, but has already successfully completed an 80 km test flight. The start date of mass production has not yet been announced.
