In a new study, experts from Boston University School of Medicine in the US conducted a survey of 347 American and Canadian athletes aged 18 to 29. They were first shown videos of SHAAKE (spontaneous nodding after a kinematic event) and then asked about their own experiences.
It was revealed that 69% of the participants experienced this type of head shaking at least once. Moreover, 93% said it was due to concussion. From Harvard Medical School, Dr. Dan Daneshvar noted that approximately three in four cases of SHAAKE among subjects were related to concussion.
The results of this study were published in the journal Diagnostics.
