The Exynos 9820, 9825, 980, 990, 850 and W920 affected by the issue are Samsung’s own products. A vulnerability in the platforms’ security allowed remote code execution on Samsung smartphones. As The Register notes, the discovered vulnerability is related to phone memory management.
The vulnerability was assigned the identifier CVE-2024-44068 and there was no patch for the problematic code at the time of discovery. However, it is currently reported that the fix has already been released.
“Samsung is committed to providing the highest level of security to our users. We are aware of the potential vulnerability mentioned. “We strongly recommend that users update their devices to the latest software updates,” Samsung said.
