Only 2% of Russians update their smartphones annually, according to a recent survey by media conglomerate Rambler&Co. Most users prefer to change their devices less; Almost half (48%) of respondents are willing to keep their phones until they break. Approximately 44% of respondents update their gadgets every 3-5 years, and 6% update them every 1-2 years.
For 51% of users, the main reason for switching smartphones was device slowness. For 16% of respondents, issues with apps were the reason to update, while poor camera quality was the reason for only 3%. More than 40 percent of Russians are ready to consider buying a new phone if there is a favorable price or promotion. While 38% of respondents emphasize the importance of new technologies, only 9% prioritize camera improvements.
Evgeny Kharitonov, editor-in-chief of Ferra.ru, noted that replacing your smartphone every three years is a reasonable approach.
