Gemini’s integrations with WhatsApp, Google Home, and Google Messages began rolling out this Friday (1st). New features allow you to make calls, read messages and control devices with voice commands using the virtual assistant.

Just like Google Assistant, integrations give you access to specific app functionality from Gemini. The integrations were launched in the testing phase in October this year.

Gemini can search for contacts on WhatsApp and send messages to specific contacts. Thanks to its ability to interpret natural language, requests are much more intuitive than those found in Google Assistant.

For example, to call someone, the user can say “I need to talk.” [contato]can you call him?” or “can you call him?” [contato] on WhatsApp?” and the assistant will do the job. The same goes for Google Messages.

Geminis in controlling smart homes

Integration is a little more robust on Google Home. The new feature allows you to manage smart devices paired with the device with voice commands, but even for more complex requests.

website 9to5Google He mentions that it’s even possible to make requests with multiple instructions at once, such as asking to turn off multiple devices at once or asking to turn on lights to create a certain mood.
