“VTB Bank has not recorded any leaks of customer data. Another “database” that appeared on certain dubious resources is not the database of the VTB bank,” the credit institution reported.
A VTB representative noted that the database was compiled from open sources and data from third-party organizations, relevant for 2022, and does not pose a threat to the financial security of clients.
The bank highlighted that it regularly monitors data security and prevents any hacking attempts on its systems.
On Thursday, the Telegram channel “Information Leaks” (DLBI) reported that a database called “VTB Clients” had appeared on a shadow forum. According to DLBI, the leaked data set contains 6.1 million lines: full names, phone numbers, email addresses and dates of birth.
