According to the channel, the leaked data set contains 6.1 million lines: full names, phone numbers, email addresses and dates of birth. The “VTB clients” database was compiled from several sources; It was based on a database of phone numbers and digital identifiers that was updated as of May 2022, the publication notes.

“Checking random phone numbers from the original database (9 million phones) through the express payment system showed that VTB Bank is available for all these numbers,” DLBI specialists added.

The press service of the RB.RU bank stated that VTB did not record “any leakage of customer data.” “The next “database” that appeared on certain dubious resources is not the VTB Bank database. This is information collected from open sources and third-party data as of 2022. There is no threat to the financial security of VTB clients,” assured the representative of the credit institution.

He added that VTB “regularly monitors the security of customer data and works to prevent any attempts to hack our systems.”

In November 2023, “Information Leaks” reported that one of the forums was selling a telephone “verification” service through the Quick Payment System. As discovered by the channel, the seller promises that the service will allow you to verify phone numbers from various databases, determining whether the owner has an account in one or more banks connected to the SBP. The provided data examples show that by phone number the “verifier” returns the name of the bank, the name and patronymic of the owner, as well as the first letter of the surname.
