Samsung’s strategy for the Galaxy S26 lineup seems to have taken a new turn. A report fresh from the oven and arriving all the way from South Korea, warns of possible cancellation of one of the most anticipated mobile phones of 2026. And, according to media reports Newspimthe company would have completed pilot testing of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which would have led to the cancellation of the next model, the Galaxy S26 Edge.
The report goes further and gives compelling reasons for this alleged last-minute cancellation. Samsung sold 8.28 million Galaxy S25, 5.05 million Galaxy S25 Plus, 12.18 million Galaxy S25 Ultra and only 1.31 million Galaxy S25 Edge. The lack of interest, combined with general dissatisfaction with the nature of the device, would have strengthened Samsung’s decision.
Everything indicates that this is last minute movebecause Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge, according to a leaked report, This is a device that is already 100% developed and ready to enter the production stage. Therefore, the South Korean company could make a decision immediately before starting production of the units.
And despite the leak, this theory fits with another latest move from Samsung. A couple of weeks ago, we learned that the Galaxy S26 Plus had become a reality, a device that was supposed to be replaced by an Edge version in 2026. So this last detail about the cancellation would leave us with the next episode months away.

What’s the problem with the Galaxy S26 Edge?
Well, your main problem is called Galaxy S25 Edgea version that Samsung released in mid-2025 and has since flooded stores. The essence of this device is in its design, the body of which is only 5.4 mmvery light weight and high quality features.
Problem? Samsung didn’t use the latest generation of silicon-carbon batteries, so it had to reduce the mAh capacity to accommodate such a small thickness. And while the Galaxy S25 Edge feels great in the hand, its day-to-day experience is a disaster.
Its autonomy is barely enough for a day of use.and although its performance is not affected by thickness, the camera is one of the elements that changes compared to the rest of the series. This clearly inferior camera and ridiculous battery did not convince the market, which affected the sales of the device worldwide.
That could have changed with the inclusion of a silicon-carbon battery to include more mAh in the package, but Samsung decided to release a device to prove it without being untrue. It looked like a beta version with some kinks that needed to be worked out.
Now, to no one’s surprise, Samsung would consider canceling the 2026 version and continuing with its traditional plans.
