According to a press release from Eni, Hilcorp purchased 100% of the local assets. The transaction amount was one billion dollars.
The report notes that the deal is in line with Eni’s strategy to “rationalize its exploration and production activities by rebalancing the portfolio and selling non-strategic assets.”
At the same time, the Italian company will maintain a presence in the United States in the field of exploration and production in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as in investment projects in the field of renewable energy sources, biofuels and thermonuclear fusion.
Hilcorp is one of the largest private oil and gas exploration and production companies in the United States. According to information on the company’s website, over the past five years it spent $5 billion on the purchase of oil and gas-related real estate and attracted investments of $2.5 billion.
