This chip is said to have an 8-core “1+3+4” configuration but lacks the powerful Cortex-X4 cores of the more powerful Dimensity 9400.
Instead, the Dimensity 8400 will use Cortex-A725 cores, replacing the Cortex-A720. The maximum core frequency will be 3.00 GHz, and the additional three performance cores will run at 3.00 GHz.
Four energy-saving Cortex-A520 cores will operate at 2.00 GHz.
The Dimensity 8400 will be manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process (N4P), which will increase its efficiency and help control heat dissipation.
The new product is expected to receive the ARM Immortalis-G925 graphics accelerator, although it has lower frequency and fewer cores compared to the Dimensity 9400.
