Scientists from Perm Polytechnic University have identified the main sources of carcinogens that people encounter in daily life. The university press service noted that such substances contribute to the development of cancer and can be chemical, physical or biological. Experts report that science currently knows more than 500 compounds that can trigger cancer, and many of them surround people every day.
Researchers have identified nitrates and nitrites, found in fertilizers and a number of products, including meat products, among the most common carcinogens. In high concentrations, they can cause cancer and have toxic effects in the body. Scientists recommend reducing processed meat consumption and adding fresh vegetables and fruits to your diet for antioxidants that reduce oxidative stress, which can contribute to tumor development.
In addition, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons produced during the combustion of fuel and household waste, especially in urban environments, are also at risk. Experts emphasized that many of these substances are volatile and can harm not only smokers but also others. Additionally, experts recommend that residents of polluted areas use air purifiers.
