A Chinese court has decided to appeal to Apple from the developer of Bodyreader. This requires about $420 thousand. The investigation follows the removal of their application for correcting posture of children from the App Store in 2020.
The developer claims that Apple unfairly abandoned its app, accusing it of “unfair” behavior, and also disputes the 30% commission on purchases and the company’s control over the iOS ecosystem.
The plaintiff believes that Apple inconsistently applies App Store policies. He noted that after deleting the original application, it was successfully published under the new name “Qilin Century” and is still available on the store. Closed hearings on the issues are on Thursday and could arise this week.
This is the first case in which Apple was forced to protect the rules of its mobile platform from the demands of a Chinese developer.
Bodyreader is seeking successive allegations and a court ruling that Apple engages in “unfair monopolistic practices.” The developer also requires the company to allow the use of store applications and external payment links.
