iFixit experts got to the latest Mac mini with an M4 processor.

They immediately noted that the computer was very easy to disassemble, despite the quality of the reduced case. The bottom panel is held in place by clamps that can be connected without any damage. The first thing users see after removing this panel is the CMOS battery, which can be quickly replaced by simply removing two screws.

Then, unscrewing a few more screws exposes the wireless module’s cables, and then you can remove the inner plate, which provides access to most of the internal components, like the speaker and the large fan that takes up half the space.

Interesting fact: The M4 Pro chip version has a larger copper heatsink than the base M4 version.

The technicians were also able to install a drive from another Mac mini onto the Mac mini. However, they noted that the M4 version cannot accommodate the storage module from the M4 Pro model because it is larger.

The USB-C ports and headphone jack on the front panel can be easily removed, but the ports on the rear panel are more difficult to replace. The motherboard is protected by a copper layer for better heat dissipation, and the RAM is soldered.

As a result, iFixit experts gave the new Mac mini a seven on a ten-point repairability scale and praised Apple for the work done. [9to5]
