VK does not plan to close the Capsule smart speaker project, the holding company’s press service informed RB.RU. Previously, Kommersant sources reported that the company decided to reduce production due to “low device sales figures.”

“The information is not true. VK does not plan to close the “Capsule” speaker project. All the teams involved in the execution of the project are working as before,” VK highlighted.
The new column “Capsule Pro”, which the company presented in October, should appear in stores at the end of November and users can pre-order, a representative of the holding company added. The press service clarified that the smart speaker will go on sale on November 28 for 24,990 rubles.
On November 13, Kommersant, citing sources from the IT sector and a large equipment sales network, reported that VK decided to reduce the production of smart speakers with the Marusya voice assistant. “This decision is due to the low sales of devices, both in quantitative and monetary terms,” explained one of the publication’s interlocutors.
The newspaper also drew attention to the fact that the legal entity VK Smart Devices LLC, responsible for the production of smart speakers, has been in the process of merging since October 24 with another legal entity, VK Store LLC. An RB.RU source close to VK explained that we are talking about a “technical reorganization” to optimize corporate governance.
