MTS analyzed fraudulent calls on its network in 2024.

According to the operator, the number of conversations between subscribers and scammers decreased from 70% to 50% from July to November compared to the first half of this year. This decrease is associated with the introduction of new services in MTS, as well as with the growing awareness of Russians about fraudulent schemes, noted the “Defender” service from MTS.

In the same period of this year, the number of complaints about fraudulent calls also decreased: subscribers began to contact call centers with domestic problems by 40% less. Now, on average, users spend about 40 seconds talking to a scammer, and only 2% of calls can last more than 5 minutes.

The number of fraudulent calls has tripled over the past few months, and we are actively combating them. For example, 80% of fraudulent numbers are blocked for one day, which significantly increases the risk of scammers calling our customers. In addition, we continue to introduce new features to our Defender service.

Now users have access to such functions as blocking spam calls, number identification, warning about a conversation with a possible fraudster at first, decrypting a dialogue with a spammer, and searching for data leaks. We recommend using the features provided to enhance your personal security and protect against fraud.

Most often, scammers call on friendly days during business hours – from 9:00 to 18:00, the most active day for scammers is Thursday. However, 5% of fraudulent calls occur on weekends.
