On July 12, Realme’s new flagship, called the GT 2 Master Explorer Edition, will be presented live on the company’s official website. The smartphone is expected to be exclusive to the Chinese market and not released to the international market, just like its predecessor Realme GT Master Explorer Edition.
For some time now, the manufacturer has regularly released teasers revealing details about the new product. And a lot of “leaks” revealed many features. This article contains everything that is known about the new product.
First of all, it is of course the chipset. It is already known for sure that this will be the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship, bringing the ultimate in performance and speed. The question of the cooling implementation remains open, but we will only be able to find out after a live review and feedback from early buyers. In terms of performance, compared to the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 found in the Realme GT 2 Pro, the new chipset is around 10% faster and 30% more power efficient. This was made possible by the transition from Samsung chip production to TSMC production (although the 4nm process technology has been retained).
The second point is the RAM. The GT 2 Master Explorer Edition will be the world’s first smartphone to feature LPDDR5X memory, which manufacturers say is 20% more power efficient than LPDDR5. As for volumes, 6 GB, 8 GB and even 12 GB versions are expected, which will be equipped with a 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB UFS 3.1 disk.
In addition to all energy-efficient components, the smartphone is equipped with a “fat” battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh and support for ultra-fast charging at 100W. Despite this, the smartphone will not be fat and will receive quite normal dimensions for its diagonal with a case thickness of 8.2 mm and a weight of 195 grams.
We end the description of the characteristics with a modern AMOLED screen with a cutout in the form of a point for the front camera. The screen has a Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz, which makes the animation very smooth and in games you will get the best experience. The fingerprint scanner is optical and is placed under the screen.
Now let’s look at the design and appearance. The golden beige eco-leather back cover is complemented by metal studs on the sides, inspired by travel bags and suitcases. The platform with cameras is located in the left corner. 3 cameras form a triangle, the main sensor stands out in a larger size. It is believed that a 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor was used in the main camera, which was complemented by a still unknown 50 MP ultra wide angle camera and 2 MP macro camera.
The smartphone will run on Realme UI 3.0, which in turn is based on Android 12. Other details, including the price, we will know in a couple of days.
