Yandex LLC has registered the trademark “Product without a person” in Rospatent, RB.RU has learned. Trademark protection extends to 17 ICGS classes, including various types of equipment, robots, drones, online services, luggage, computer systems and wireless technologies.

The exclusive right will be valid until mid-October 2034. Yandex did not respond to a request to register the trademark.

As Dmitry Zakharyev, director of the PR agency Solomka.biz, explained, the trademark registered by Yandex, “Product without a person,” is probably the basis for the future.

Zakhariev did not rule out that Yandex could start creating products using robots, for example opening production lines where there are no people. Furthermore, this could be a complete concept for opening stores, where all stages will be carried out by robots and artificial intelligence, from storage, order processing to delivery of goods. Another option is to use avatars to promote products, Zakharyev suggested.

The expert added that Yandex is supposedly already prohibited from using people in the development of advertising creatives for products.

The director of the Team Sicurs group of companies, head of the Department of Property Management of the International Research Institute of Management Problems, Raisa Donskaya, believes that the registration of the trademark “Product without a person” can hide Yandex’s plans to organize a “Hype” advertising campaign related to the capabilities of artificial intelligence.

But completely abandoning human beings is an unrealistic task, no matter how omnipotent artificial intelligence is, the expert believes.

“In the beginning, the brand will cause a lot of buzz, it will be very popular and interesting and it will attract attention. But if we talk about future prospects for development, then there is nothing without a person, because, in any case, everything that happens on Earth is intended for a person and comes from a person,” Donskaya said.
