Rutube newspaper confirmed plans to launch the television broadcast, noting that the beta version of the broadcast is now available on the video hosting site. The network of channels will be based on the content of bloggers, in particular, the original programs of the service: Muzloft, “Evil Tongues”, “Native”, “Honorary Citizen”, “Little Heroes” and others.
Rutube TV’s target audience is viewers between 25 and 33 years old. Now the video hosting company is negotiating with pay television operators to include its channel in their packages, but it is not specified which specific operators it is talking about. There are no plans yet to place advertising on television, the company added.
They explained that the launch of the channel will expand the presence of Rutube content in the media and “will open new opportunities to promote its brand”, and will also allow the video hosting to offer new tools to promote authors, since “the projects of the most popular on the site may appear on the channel.”
In early November, Rutube reported that, according to Mediascope, the service’s monthly audience in October amounted to more than 67 million users.
YouTube has been slowing down in Russia since late July. RKN explained this as problems with Google servers, but the company said it had nothing to do with the failures. Before the slowdown, in early July, the video hosting blocked the channels of some Russian musicians, including Shaman.
