One of the biggest complaints from Threads users since its launch in July 2023 is the confusing algorithm that suggests multiple posts from people you don’t follow. In a post on X this Thursday (21), Threads boss Adam Mosseri confirmed that this will change.
Mosseri’s post reveals this social network will better balance posts that users encounter. In other words, this statement means that the number of posts on profiles that users do not follow will be less and the emphasis will be on the content that the profile actually follows and probably wants to see.
This, in turn, may mean that the platform’s content producers have a certain experience. slowing down your engagement. Mosseri highlighted that this phenomenon may occur because posts are sent to fewer external profiles and more accounts that already follow a particular creator.
There is strong competition on the issues
Threads’ algorithm change comes as welcome news for thousands of users; because the constant recommendation of common profiles throughout the stream has caused many people to switch to other social networks. As a result, the trend is in the following direction Meta’s social network could maintain more profiles in the long run.
Another factor that may have caused this change is the recent success of Bluesky. The social network is gaining nearly 700,000 new users every week and has recently become the leader in downloads on the App Store, reaching 15 million users.
Threads has made good strides towards success despite the algorithm, and Meta is already planning to add advertising to the platform for 2025.
