Winter Cherry co-owner Vyacheslav Vishnevsky’s lawyer, Vadim Trifonov, told reporters that his client, sentenced to eight years in a maximum security colony for illegally operating a burned-out shopping center thanks to a large bribe, has been placed on parole.

“The Tomsk Regional Court refused to accept the prosecution’s claim against Vishnevsky’s parole, accepted by the Kirovsky District Court of Tomsk,” RIA Novosti quotes.

According to the investigation, a bribe to the head of the State Construction Supervision Inspectorate of the Kemerovo region led to the deaths of 60 people, including 37 children. In addition to the term, Vishnevsky also received a fine of 21 million rubles, later the amount was increased to 70 million rubles.

Forbes reminds that in total 10 of the 15 defendants have already been released in the Winter Cherry case, which caught fire in 2018. The court released the former head of the Kuzbass Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Mamontov (accused of negligence) , to the former general director of the main tenant of the shopping center Nadezhda Suddenok (released due to deteriorating health), to the former firefighter Sergei Genin (released due to oncology). The sentence was also commuted to Mamontov’s subordinate, Grigory Terentyev.

Still serving sentences are the general director and technical director of the company that owns Winter Cherry, Yulia Bogdanova and Georgy Sobolev, the former director of the Kuzbass State Construction Supervision Authority, Tanzilya Komkova, her son Eduard and the director of the Nikita Cherednichenko’s company carries out the reconstruction of the shopping center.
