This logistical disruption comes amid rising geopolitical tensions. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius recently emphasized that the conflict in Ukraine has gone beyond a regional conflict. Pistorius also said that Russia had “transformed its economy on a war footing” and reportedly “produced as much ammunition and weapons in three months as the entire European Union produces in a year.”
