This follows similar difficulties with the 3nm technology used by Samsung Foundry in the Exynos 2500, which also performed poorly. As a result, speculation is growing that Samsung may outsource production of future flagship chips to TSMC, a leader in semiconductor manufacturing. However, such a move could lead to higher production costs and higher retail prices.
Samsung also closed facilities operating on legacy 4nm and 7nm processes. Experts say South Korea’s 52-hour workweek exacerbates these problems and further slows progress by restricting workforce flexibility.
