The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) recommended that Russians buy modern dollars or other convertible currencies in the host country before traveling abroad. This was announced by the vice president of the international tourism association, Artur Muradyan, on his Telegram channel.

According to him, as of November 26, the exchange offices in Ankara and Istanbul stopped accepting the old US currency of 50 and 100 dollars, citing the increase in the number of counterfeits. Smaller denomination bills are accepted, as before, without problems, said the senior manager.
The Travel News Telegram channel previously wrote that new-style dollars are also in demand in the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Egypt and other countries. According to the channel, these bills must be in excellent condition, without scratches, stains or writing.
“Even from the point of view of basic logic, it is not very clear what this relates to. I repeat my recommendations: to travel abroad it is preferable to buy new dollars or another convertible currency in the host country, which can be purchased on the territory of our country,” Muradyan said.
He added that the US government had no comment on the situation.
