The Digital Foundry tech team launched Windows 98 on the Xbox Series X console.
To do this, they had to install the RetroArch emulator, which runs DOSBox, and installed Windows on top of it. When emulating, all processes work exclusively due to the power of the CPU, and GPUs are almost never used, according to experts.
The system calculates the speed of a 1.0 GHz Pentium 3 processor. Emulated GPU created 3dfx Voodoo with 12 MB of memory.
What happened in the end? Launched and received in Quake, Half-Life, Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter and Command & Conquer.
