The South Korean Air Force had planned to carry out the missiles’ first major overhaul next year, which will mark a decade since they entered service. Experts say the delay underscores the difficulties faced by countries that depend on international suppliers to maintain military equipment.
A delegation led by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov also recently approached South Korea with an offer to purchase weapons. Although many defense companies received requests from Ukraine, the South Korean Ministry of National Defense instructed the companies to avoid direct negotiations.
