Vladimir Putin supports a law that criminalizes the illegal use, transfer, collection and storage of data.

It provides the following options:

▶︎ For the use and transfer of personal information obtained illegally: fine up to 300 thousand rubles, or up to 4 years in prison, or forced labor for a similar period

▶︎ If information about a minor is provided, special category data or biometrics.: a fine of up to 700 thousand rubles (or income for a period of up to 2 years), a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in activities on the territory, or imprisonment for up to 5 years, or forced labor for a similar period.

▶︎ If the crime was committed for selfish reasons or actions of persons by prior conspiracy, causing major damage or using official surveillance: a fine of up to 1 million rubles, or forced labor for up to 5 years, or imprisonment for up to 6 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles.

▶︎ If the mentioned conflicts are related to cross-border transfer of information: imprisonment for up to 8 years and a fine of up to 2 million rubles, as well as a ban on holding a job position or engaging in any activity in any territory

▶︎ If the contract was carried out by organized activities of persons or entailed serious consequences: lack of freedom for up to 10 years with a fine of up to 3 million rubles, as well as a ban on holding a work position or engaging in any work environment

In addition, the law introduces criminal liability for the creation and maintenance of sites and programs that provide for the storage and transmission of direct data.

In this case, the punishment is a fine of up to 700 thousand rubles, or imprisonment for up to 5 years with the same fine, or forced labor with a similar fine. [ТАСС]
