It is assumed that we are talking about the Haval H-Dog crossover, the serial number of which, according to industry publications, corresponds to the code B16. The specified HS code confirms that this is a hybrid car. At the moment, there are no hybrid models in the Russian Haval line. The company did not comment on production plans to the newspaper.
Avtostat’s Sergei Udalov notes that the hybrid market in Russia is growing faster than the electric vehicle segment, due to the greater adaptability of hybrids to the country’s conditions. During the ten months of 2024, sales of hybrid cars increased sixfold year-on-year, up to 31.7 thousand units, while sales of electric vehicles increased by 46% and amounted to 15.3 thousand units. The expert predicts that by the end of the year the hybrid market will reach between 35,000 and 38,000 cars.
According to Autostat, Haval is second in Russia in sales of new cars after Lada. In ten months, the brand increased sales by 13.9% compared to the same period last year, up to 160.2 thousand vehicles, the largest part of which is the Haval Jolion crossover.
The Haval plant in the Tula region is undergoing modernization, which by 2025 will increase the capacity from 150 to 200 thousand cars per year, said Andrey Akifev, CEO of Haval Motor Rus. Currently, the site produces Haval Dargo, F7, H3 and Jolion.
In addition, Haval started production of the Haval M6 model at the leased facilities of the PSMA Rus plant in the Kaluga region. This decision is due to the lack of production capacity in the Tula region, even after expansion. The M6 model is aimed at a more affordable segment and will allow Haval to increase sales volume, explains Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of Za Rulem magazine.
Haval’s plans for the coming years include further development of the line. The Great Wall Motor consortium, owner of the brand, presented a strategy according to which five new models will enter the Russian market in 2025.
In October 2024, the new car market in Russia set a record for the past 3.5 years, reaching 171.18 thousand cars. Compared to the previous month, growth in October was 13.5% and, compared to October last year, 52.4%, according to Autostat data.
