Crypto billionaire Justin Sun ate an art object purchased for $6.2 million

In 2019, Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan created an art object called “Comedian.” The TRON founder bought it at Sotheby’s auction in New York on November 21.

Before eating the art object, the businessman drew parallels between conceptual art and blockchain technologies, noting that “most objects [современного искусства] and ideas exist on the Internet, not in physical form.”

According to AFP, Sun purchased a certificate of authenticity for the work of art and instructions that allow the banana to be replaced with any other and the installation reproduced again. The crypto billionaire wasn’t the first to eat a piece of The Comedian. Before him, he was one of the visitors to the Leeum Art Museum in Seoul and the artist David Datuna at the Art Basel exhibition in Miami Beach.

Earlier this week, Sun announced that it had invested $30 million in World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency project created by US President-elect Donald Trump. This is the creation of a digital asset bank, whose clients will be able to request loans, loans and invest in tokens, notes CNBC.

Trump calls himself a supporter of cryptocurrencies. In particular, the politician promised to make the United States “the crypto capital of the planet and the Bitcoin superpower of the world.” In the context of his victory in the presidential elections, the price of Bitcoin approached $100,000 for the first time in history.
