Yandex has become the owner of NewPay LLC, which is developing a service for paying for goods and services via QR codes of the NewPay fast payment system (FPS). The transaction was completed on November 28 and was structured through Financial and Payment Technologies LLC. The Yandex press service told the agency that the acquisition of NewPay will expand the range of payment instruments and improve payment scenarios within the Yandex Pay service.
NewPay was registered in September 2024. Before the transaction, 70% belonged to Ivan Bortnik, 25% to Alexey Lokontsev and 5% to Igor Melnikov.
According to information on the NewPay website, the service is integrated with popular systems, including Evotor, Posiflora, Quick Resto, Module Kassa and Aspro. Project partners include TopGun, Doubleby, Cantata, OnePriceCoffee, SurfCoffee and Cofix.
In September 2024, Yandex Pay added the function of automatically replenishing the card at the time of payment for goods from the client’s account in another bank. For the new feature to work, the external bank must be connected to the SBP. If the client has not exceeded the limit of 30 million rubles per month for transfers through SBP, there will be no commission for automatic replenishment of Yandex Pay.
