Since 2021, Tesla has been continuously improving the robot based on Tesla driver assistance systems technology. “Optimus” recently appeared at an event in Los Angeles serving drinks and interacting with guests. Musk plans to have the robot working in Tesla factories starting next year, performing repetitive and dangerous tasks.
In the future, Tesla plans to create a home version of Optimus that can sit with children, mow the lawn, and even act as a companion. Musk estimates that the robot will cost around $25,000 when mass produced.
