The era of foldable smartphones continues to be actively replenished with new devices. It is no longer only Samsung, as it once was, that produces such devices.
They still attract the gaze of others and arouse genuine interest. This problem is primarily due to the not very widespread adoption of foldable smartphones among the masses, however, all this may change greatly in the coming years.
Various manufacturers have already started producing more affordable foldable smartphones. And among them was Infinix, which released ZERO Flip – one of the most inexpensive gadgets in this category.
I’ll tell you why it’s so special and why it’s worth paying attention to. An interesting device indeed.
Rich set inside
Even the box looks premium, you can see everything neatly when you open it right into your hands.
Traditionally, I start the review with the configuration. Here, Infinix goes beyond tradition and does packaging of all its accessories and a little more.
Inside the box we are greeted with:
▪ the smartphone itself
▪ charging cable
▪ 70 W power adapter
▪ documentation
▪ branded case
I usually say that I don’t like cases and film/glass, but now the situation is changing a little. This is a rather fragile device due to its non-standard design, which provides additional protection, so the package includes a case, which turned out to be more than just a necessary addition to the device.
However, I personally have questions about its design. It looks at least strange at the top.
Design and ergonomics. Is this smartphone convenient to use?
The smartphone body is made of Alhinyaso you don’t have to worry about its strength and use. The benefit of this is the added benefit of an outside perspective.
It’s good that Infinix decided to use a metal frame here, since other devices always use plastic. This is an alternative novelty compared to other gadgets of the company.
When folded, the neat lines and smooth curves give the device a minimalist yet sophisticated look. Thanks to a special bottom panel, perforations appear in car interiors.
When folded, the strength is only 87.49 mmmaking it compact and easy to fit into a pocket or bag.
The installed hinge ensures smooth opening and closing, creating a real feeling of security with every use. True, you still keep in your head the thought that this is a compact device, and it can be accidentally bent in the opposite direction (and broken there), so you need to be careful, this is still not an ordinary brick.
On the right side of the screen are the light and power buttons, which also double as a fingerprint scanner. By the way, it works with lightning speed. At the bottom of the case there is a SIM card slot, a USB-C port and a speaker. It is also worth noting that the device is equipped with stereo speakers, which provides decent and very loud sound.
The case is protected not only from external damage due to high-quality materials, but also from everyday influences: its hinge system is designed to withstand multiple folding cycles without loss of strength – up to 400,000 times. True, there is no protection from dust and water here, alas.
Display at its best
Bright and juicy
Infinix ZERO Flip has two displays:
► external size 3.64 inchesScreen: AMOLED, resolution 1056×1066 pixels, 1100 nits, refresh rate 120 Hz.
► main 6.9 inches: LTPO AMOLED, 1080 x 2640 pixels resolution, 1400 nits, 120 Hz refresh rate.
The external screen is protected by the strongest Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the most secure on the market. It can withstand falls and is not afraid of impacts on the surface. True, it is not so protected from scratches, so the manufacturer decided to install additional protective glass on the screen directly from the factory, which is cool.
All colors on the upper screens are bright, nothing glitters in the sun.
No gap
I am answering a question about the warehouse. Yes, she is here, yes, no one has delivered from her yet. However, when using it not visible at all. Or rather, it can only be opened at an angle somewhere on the side, but not when you look directly at the smartphone.
With daily use, you can only learn about the warehouse tactile. The bezel has a thin recessed area in this crease that you can easily feel with your finger. Overall, it doesn’t interfere at all.
Good hardware inside
So we got to one of them, thanks to which we managed to reduce the final cost of the device.
A powerful 6nm processor is responsible for the performance here. Mediatek Dimensity 8020. A similar chip was purchased last year with Infinix Zero 30 5G.
Surprisingly good! Review of Infinix Zero 30 5G smartphone with 144 Hz display and 108 MP socket
Additionally, the ZERO Flip comes with 8GB of RAM (expandable up to 16GB) and 512GB of internal storage. This volume is enough for all tasks.
The Infinix shell has impressed me for several years now. And all thanks to compatibility with iOS, as well as excellent optimization. Nothing lags or slows down anywhere – everything works very smoothly.
I tested PUBG and Call of Duty Mobile on the new product, you can’t play them on an external screen (suddenly you became interested in some unknown reasons, I checked it for you).
In all cases, the gadget works perfectly at high frequencies and with top refresh rates. Except that there are no ultra settings in CoD yet. In CoD: Warzone Mobile the situation is worse, where this processor is no longer enough for ultra-gaming.
At the same time, it heats up smartly, but not very much. Even after half an hour of playing, I felt comfortable holding the flip phone in my hands. Thanks to the high-quality cooling system.
Cameras. Strong average
Two sensors are responsible for these capabilities in the Infinix ZERO Flip: a 50 MP main sensor with optical and digital image stabilization (GN5,1,0um, FOV 84°, OIS, PDAF, f/1.88), as well as a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle photographer with a viewing angle of 114.5. degrees.
There is also a 50 MP front camera (JN1, 0.64 µm, viewing angle 82.3°, PDAF, f/2.45).
The great thing here is that you can shoot 4K60 videos with both the main and front cameras. True, I think you will rarely use the front camera, since this is a folding smartphone, and all selfies can be easily taken on the main lens.
There is no telephoto lens in this smartphone, but it is present 2x digital zoom. Thanks to the high resolution of the base module, the quality of the package remains at a decent level when expanded.
The picture does not take into account the details, and the “soapy” pixels, which are often found at high magnification, do not glow as much in the eyes. Plus there is also an AI that independently created some of the details. It doesn’t always look good, but most of the time it’s ok.
Don’t expect a flagship level camera – this is not the situation. However, in automatic mode, the smartphone produces quite decent photos. Here are some examples:
Main camera, 2x zoom
Main camera, no zoom
Ultra wide camera
6x zoom
Supermarco, crazy
Super macro, 2x zoom
Yes, you can notice minor shortcomings: periodic jumps in the color batch and glitches in the white balance. But this is not critical. Moreover, the device does not depend on increasing the color towards the pink result, which I often see in Android devices.
In general, you can and should shoot with this camera. It gives good results.
Battery. Two days of life guaranteed
The built-in 4720 mAh battery is responsible for autonomy. There is support for 70W fast charging.
From 0% to 48% the device only charges in 15 minutes. This is a statement from the manufacturer, and I also confirm this. It took about an hour to fully charge.
There is also 10 W reverse charging; this device has saved my iPhone in extreme condition more than once. Smarton supports 3 fast charging modes: smart, fast and low heating mode, the last of which has the least effect on battery degradation.
To take or not to take
I’ll say this. If you have a craving for mastering new technologies, but your budget is literally limited, then pass by. This is not a device for 30 thousand rubles.
However, the Infinix ZERO Flip costs even less than the iPhone 16 Pro. And at the same time, it can do even more, plus it has a non-standard form factor, which has an impact on the soul of many, especially those who are nostalgic for clamshells.
Infinix ZERO Flip costs XXX rubles in Russia. And it justifies its price. This is a reliable folding smartphone with good hardware and camera, as well as a gorgeous display. Definitely worth testing.
