After Samsung left the Russian market in 2022, the Kaluga plant stopped receiving components, although the company was not removed from the assets of Samsung Electronics Rus Kaluga LLC (owned by the Korean Samsung), the newspaper writes.

In 2024, according to Kommersant, the plant was leased to Samsung by the Russian VVP group, which launched contract production there of equipment of its own Hi and Carrera brands for the M.Video-Eldorado network. The newspaper’s sources estimated the amount of the contract between 2 and 3 million dollars.

The capacity of the Kaluga plant allows it to produce up to 500 thousand pieces of equipment per year. The main buyers of Graviton servers will be companies that operate critical information infrastructures, including energy companies, transport and telecommunications organizations, banks, military-industrial complexes and government agencies, SNDGroup director Olga Kvashekina told Vedomosti.

According to her, two years after the imposition of sanctions, the lack of servers remains a problem for Russian companies, since it is impossible to produce them without access to high-tech components. VVP Group did not respond to Vedomosti’s request; Graviton declined to comment.

The Graviton brand is property of Revolutionary Technologies LLC.
