VK launched its video service “VK Video” on a separate domain vkvideo.ru and added new features to the web version of the platform. This was reported by RB.RU in the holding company’s press service.

“Site navigation on vkvideo.ru has been updated and new features have been added. “One of the key innovations was the transfer of subscriptions to authors from third-party services, allowing viewers to follow new products and their favorite authors,” the company said.
Additionally, in the “Subscriptions” section there is quick access to the list of authors and the possibility of hiding those whose content the user does not like. Also on the main showcase there are now horizontal blocks: “Continue watching”, “Subscriptions”, “Movies”, “Series”, “TV Channels” and “Programs”.
A separate domain will allow faster implementation of technologies and tools for authors and open up new monetization opportunities, for example, more flexible advertising models or premium features for bloggers, said Nikolai Duksin, vice president of music and video services at VK.
VK Video began to gain popularity after YouTube began to slow down in late July. Roskomnadzor explained the slowdown due to problems with Google servers, but the company assured that it had nothing to do with the failures. Before the slowdown, in early July, YouTube blocked the channels of several Russian musicians, including Shaman.
