Google DeepMind introduced Genie 2, an artificial intelligence model that creates 3D game worlds from a single image and text description.

The company says Genie 2 can create a “huge variety of rich 3D worlds.” In this world, users can interact with the environment, performing actions such as jumping and swimming using the mouse or keyboard. In addition, the model can create minimal non-player characters (NPCs).

Many examples of Genie 2 artwork look like scenes from high-end games. This is likely due to the fact that Google trained the model on data from popular video games.

However, Google does not disclose the technical details of the new model. It is also not yet known when Genie 2 will become available and where it will be used.

Genie 2 is capable of creating 3D worlds that last up to a minute. Moreover, almost all demonstrated examples from Google work from 10 to 20 seconds. [TechCrunch]
